Rain
Brings back so many memories in my life. So many faces, so many words, so many lies.
Raindrops.
The pitter-patter on my windowsill equals the heartbeat I hear from within. One moment, one second, one eternity, one tear.
Weird how Time passes by so teasingly slow – as if about to attack from behind in a game of Hide and Seek. A game, which never seems to end… Maybe Time is playing this game.
Take in the scent of dreams and late-night coffee, of midnights spent under huddled blankets and of ghost stories keeping us awake. Remember the swift motion of Yesterday, when like today, I was listening to the footsteps of rain.
“He told me he loved me,” I whispered, cold from the stares of the purebloods which seemed to send chills all over my body. “We are going to marry, start a family and be happy…and you can’t do anything about it!”
“But you’re too young! Not even sure of these feelings storming in you.” They ALL argued, making up excuses. Lame, lame, lame…
“I know what Love is…” But I was firm. A love like this comes only once, and I won’t let proud blobs of fat take it away from me. I’ve fought too hard to let it all end this way…
“Think again…” They ALL opposed. But I know the real meaning why they did, why they kept on parting us away from each other. It’s as obvious as the stench of their farting asses! I’m not as stupid as they think I am. Mudbloods could never have a future with purebloods. Might as well have hell freeze over…
But I won’t wait for that time. There is no more time. “We will meet by the riverside, under our tree.” The only living creature, which seemed to support us, forever bearing our initials – DM HG… “There I will wait…for him.”
And wait I did.
The burning ember of my love lighting my way – giving me strength in this great endeavor…
Wait I still do.
As the gods teased me with claps of thunder and bolts of light…
Wait I will.
Listening to the rhythm of the gushing wind, counting the drops of rain, as they fall on the moistened earth, watching as the rain washes away the last flicker of the once-blazing flame.
Waiting…
Until the last raindrop falls.
